Wall screens
A wall screen shows the pickers board on a TV or monitor in the warehouse, so everyone can see who’s picking what. It’s view only, it keeps itself up to date, and it never signs out. Nobody has to sign in on it.
Wall screens are set up in Administration → Wall Screens, or from Wall screens… at the top of the pickers board. Only despatch managers can set them up.
Set up a wall screen
Section titled “Set up a wall screen”- In Administration → Wall Screens, select Add.
- Give the screen a Name, such as Rugby goods-out. Names must be different from each other.
- Choose the Site it shows, or leave it empty for All sites.
- Select Save. A pairing code appears, such as
K7QM-2XPA, with the address to open on the screen and when the code runs out. - On the screen, open that address (your usual Customry One address followed by
/screen) in a web browser. - Type the code and select Show the board.
The screen now shows the board, and keeps showing it after restarts as long as the browser keeps its cookies.
What the screen shows
Section titled “What the screen shows”- At the top: the site (or All sites), today’s date, a clock, and today’s figures: what’s been picked, the average time, what’s still to pick, and what’s unassigned.
- A column per picker who’s in, with their load bar and its colour, then their deliveries soonest due first: reference, customer, lines (and the estimate, if you measure in minutes), and whether each is being picked or overdue. Unassigned comes first.
- Off today lists anyone who’s off, in one line at the bottom.
It’s in large type to read from across a room, and always dark. Nothing scrolls and nothing can be clicked or moved; when a column has more than fits, it ends with +4 more. To move work, use the pickers board itself.
The screen refreshes every minute. If a refresh fails, for example because the network has dropped, it keeps showing the last board with Last updated and the time in amber. Where the browser allows it, the screen asks the device not to go to sleep.
Check on your screens
Section titled “Check on your screens”The list in Administration → Wall Screens shows each screen’s site, when it was last seen, and the device it’s on. Its Status is one of:
| Status | Means |
|---|---|
| Waiting to pair | The screen has been added but its code hasn’t been entered yet. |
| Showing | The screen is showing the board. |
| Not seen for … | The screen hasn’t checked in for over 5 minutes, for example because it’s switched off or offline. It says how long. |
| Removed | The screen has been removed and no longer shows the board. |
To change a screen’s name or site, select its name or the pencil.
Get a new code
Section titled “Get a new code”Select New code (the key) on the screen in the list. Use it when a code ran out before it was entered, to move the board to another device, or to show a removed screen again.
A new code replaces the old one straight away, so whatever was showing that screen stops until the new code is entered.
Remove a screen
Section titled “Remove a screen”Select Remove (the bin) on the screen in the list. It stops showing the board at its next refresh and says This screen has been removed. Ask a manager for a new code. The screen stays in the list as Removed, and New code pairs it again.
Keeping it safe
Section titled “Keeping it safe”- A wall screen can only show its own board. It can’t open any other page or change anything.
- It never signs in as a person, so nobody walking past can use it to do what a manager can do.
- If the device is lost or stolen, or you stop using it, remove the screen.
