Cut sizes

A configurator made part can have cut pieces: pieces cut to a length (and width) from a stock product, such as sides cut from a bar or an infill cut from a sheet. A product’s cut size says what one of it is, so the pieces’ share of it can be worked out.

Open the product and its Stock tab. The Cutting card has:

FieldWhat it’s for
Cut lengthA bar’s length, or a sheet’s.
Cut width (sheets)A sheet’s width. A sheet needs its length too.
Waste allowanceA percentage added to what the pieces use, for kerf and offcuts. Blank is none.

Lengths are in the cutting unit, shown after each figure. Select Save cutting. A figure that can’t be used (0 or less, more than 1,000,000, or more than 4 decimal places) is highlighted with the reason.

Only stock items and assemblies have a cut size. Changing it needs permission to change products.

A cut piece without a width is measured against the cut length; one with a width, against the length × width. For example, two sides of 2,060 mm from a 6,000 mm bar use 2 × 2,060 ÷ 6,000 = 0.6867 of a bar. An infill of 2,000 × 800 mm from a 2,500 × 1,250 mm sheet with a 10% allowance uses 1,600,000 ÷ 3,125,000 × 1.1 = 0.5632 of a sheet.

One size per product: a 3 m and a 6 m bar are two products.

Check rules on a configurable product reports a cut piece whose product has no cut size and isn’t stocked by a length or area, and a configuration shows the same as a problem, such as Rail stock has no cut length.
